En Vacances

I am on vacation. I have been in the country since July 12th. I am playing endlessly with a Springer Spaniel puppy named Sally, going for walks in the woods and sunning myself on the deck. I will begrudgingly return home on August 3rd or 4th, but I will be happy to at least resume blogging.

Sophie's Brilliant Day
(despite the lack of colour correction)

Sophie spent the day on Lake Champlain in Vermont with Tuchuck and Narra, who came all the way from Delawarra.

There was a great deal of dog park festivities and swimming action, and some intense conversations about the meaning of tennis balls and the sustainability of the dog paddle. Narra chose to leap frog her way through the waves, while Tuchuck demonstrated his newly discovered prowess in the water.

Sophie basically swam .... and swam, and swam, and swam, and swam, and swam. She's a super stiff and tired girl tonight, but if she remembers what she did today, she is surely thinking it was worth every moment.

Moments after this photo was taken, Sophie was stopped by the cops who warned her to get on her leash or pay a $140 fine. She meant to pee on his leg, but he was driving his car through the park at the time and peeing on his tires is not quite the same thing.
