What's in a Name?

Sophie was born on a farm near Didsbury, Alberta where her chocolate Lab mother unexpectedly gave birth to a blonde baby with sparkling green eyes. Her Chesapeake Bay father immediately knew she was special and cast her off to make her way in the world
... and make her way she did.

Sophie Brador is, in fact, the über-famous
Sophina La Brador
,
star of the foreign stage and screen,
where all the films are subtitled and sublime.

Her youth was spent nibbling the ears of some of the most dashing and daring canines of her generation -- tall, dark and handsome beasts who were also subtitled and sublime.
Frankly, without the subtitles, it is still difficult to understand precisely what she is saying.
Thankfully, her sultry expression says it all.
She is a star!

_____

But alas, tragedy struck.
Just as she was rehearsing for the role that was sure to bring her a Doscar, she tore her cruciate ligament and had to have major surgery to repair her leg.
She would never dance again!

Did I forget to mention that she was also
the principal dancer in the
Imperial Russian Ballet?

______

She moved to Montreal and considered a position as
Artistic Director for Cirque de Soleil.
But it would only break her heart to watch the others trapezing and contorting, knowing all the while that she had once been the best in the world.

Did I forget to mention that too?

_______

Alas, she has given up her true identity as Sophina La Brador.
She spends her days in Parc Laurier, subtitled and sublime,
as Sophie Brador.

All are drawn to her -- none know why.
They simply fall at her feet as she walks past,
showing their bellies and wiggling their bums.
Some have even tried to mount her.
Although she is a foreign film star,
that's going a bit too far for Ms. Brador.

Watch for an upcoming episode in which Cha Cha's true identity will be revealed.

Hey Sophie, it's me, Twix. I snuck on...shhh! I'm sorry you had to give up some of your dreams along the way, but I would love to help you make some new ones! And I promise, I won't mount you. As Suki already said, I can't do that with 3 legs.

I would never let anyone mount me either, Madam La Brador. So, bully for you. As you know, I, too am Canadian (from Ontario), but I come from much humbler, rural origins. I am honored to be in the same blogspace with such greatness. Does your person realize the treasure she has in her very own home?

Yeah I know about giving up dreams. I coulda be a show dog. Instead I am over here living with a Nutcase and doing agility--the kind where you spend the day trying not to have your eye taken out by a cat.

Geeze, ballet. I don't think I'm a good prospect. I mean, Mojo can jump up on a table and land in four coffee tops. But everytime I get near a table, I break things.

I want to dance. I want to sing. I want to bark like a wolf in heat. You are an inspiration. My mom has a B.A. in dance, but she teaches...and you know EXACTLY what THAT means. She was NOT in the Imperial Russian Ballet, or in ANY Imperial Ballet, for that matter. Those who can't be prima ballerinas...well...you know.

SUBTITLE: Mom can't pick up steps to save her life so she makes them up and teaches them to other people.

Have I said too much?

Sophie! We feel like we've known you forever... maybe it's because our Girl knew you as a Russian ballerina. She's a Russian pianist! We enjoyed your visit to NYC (right?) and we've followed you on that other social networking media (hehehe). You and Joe can really make us wag and wiggle.

Our Auntie is a hound lover. She had Danes for years and years, and "resized" to a whippet about four years ago. We spent the whole summer with Zoe - and at least one of us (Jake) had a great time running and playing with her.

Pleased to finally make your acquaintance. You've got an impressive history.

Oh, by the way, we're from the Colorado Rockies. Not the baseball team, but the location.

And we love the fact that you've got a new brother.

xxoo,
Jake and Fergi in Colorado
