The Bore

Sophie has been embarrassingly absent from her blog lately, and I would like you all to know that it is entirely her fault. She's been boring. I mean, really. What does she do all day? She lays around and sleeps, chews bones, sleeps some more. Some times she goes out to the country to visit her dog walker and all the dogs who hang out there. Yawn.

Here she is with her new friend Dixie.

As if that's interesting.

And here she is with her old friend Tricky .... blah blah blah. Nothing you haven't seen before.

And of course, here she is obsessing about a tennis ball.

and obsessing.

and obsessing

and obsessing.

But wait!
Is it art?
Too bad it isn't in focus.

Yup, that's Sophie. Looking for her post-obsession snack. Predictable. Boring.
Boring, boring, boring.

Sophie is starting to show her age,

but the young boys are keeping her lively and vibrant as ever.

This young boy is named Pablo.

You may be familiar with him from previous posts.
He is wee and thinks Sophie rocks.

Sophie thinks Pablo rocks too, but not as much as the cookie he is eating. (Thanks Clover!)

Sophie actually doesn't think she should have to share her cookies with Pablo at all.

She is quite disturbed by the whole thing.

She is also disturbed by the fact that Pablo put his paws on the window sill. Sophie thinks this is just plain wrong.

I was far more disturbed by the condition of that poor spider plant and provided some emergency medical care immediately. Pablo thought that was really fun. Sophie took the opportunity for a quick nap before resuming Pablo head munching.

Sophie Brador here, reporting from Mount Royal in Montreal.

A beautiful fall day,
I look stunning
and prepared to meet my public.

Which public, you ask?

Why none other than Chef,

the famous Show Boxer

And Clover,

the infamous Canadian Pugster.

That's the mom of Lola Smiles in the background.
I love her!

Unfortunately, Lola couldn't make it,
which was probably a good thing,

since I wasn't in the mood for a beauty competition.

It was great to meet up with everyone, but totally exhausting.
I'm certain I impressed Chef and gave a few diva tips to the young Clover.

I'm happy to make public appearances like this.
If you would like me to show up on a mountain near you, just have your people call my agent.

Pablo is in the house.

Sophie is happy.

Thursday, October 16, 2008

After a week long vacation in the country,
Sophie is home.

She is not happy to be home.
She was not happy to see me.
She would fore sake all of this, for one more
night in the woods.
Thankless beast.

But cute.

Holy Schmoly Joeys!

and I don't mean this sexy dude.

And definitely not this old one,
although this old dude did get me to thinking.....

Who is the real Joe Plumber?
And why is this election getting so crowded with Joes?

Sarah Palin got me thinking.
Who is the real Joe Six-Pack?

Sophie is a very bad dog.
VERY BAD.

This morning, we went for a walk around the neighbourhood with our house guests.  Feeling a bit peckish, we stopped at Le Fromentier, cited by many as the best patisserie in Montreal.

They do make a lovely loaf of bread and nice croissants and such.

The kids chose a pastry called L'Empereur, which looked very much like the one on the right in the photo above.  (The other is called Le Nid du Poire.  That's a poached pear in the middle and underneath the pear, as special surprise, is chocolate.)

Outside Le Fromentier, one of the kids -- a 5' 6", 15-year old kid -- pulled out her L'Empereur and without warning, Sophie jumped up and grabbed it from her hand.  It was down the hatch before I could say Bad Dog!

This is the spot where
 the picture of Sophie
could be, but isn't,
because she is
a very bad dog.

Needless to say, Sophie was in a heap of trouble.  So much so, that she doesn't get her photo on the blog today. She's grounded!

It is true that a Canadian English-language leaders' debate is on the telly tonight, but look at these duds.
These are our leaders.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

How can they possibly compete with the massive entertainment spectacle that will be the U.S. Vice Presidential debate? Over here, we're prepping for Dinner and Debate, complete with a little Palin Bingo.

I'm hoping for a total media black out! Not sure what I win if I get it, but I'm hoping it does not involve a bear skin or a free pass to a Creationist museum in Alaska.

Sophie, on the other hand, thinks it's all one big joke and as you can tell from this blurry view of her, she's been boozing since the French-language Leaders' Debate last night. She's working on a black out of a whole other kind.
