Found this in today's Globe and Mail:

A dog named Ritchie models a dog collar worth £500,000 ($1.03-million) during a photocall at Harrods in London.

Sophie definitely needs one of these.

Sophie's Blue Period

UPDATE: Picasso be damned. It's too hard for Sophie to remain blue when she has just been given two amazing awards. First, her readers, whom she adores, voted her picture Photo of the Month. Sophie is so thrilled!

Then, just when she felt about ready to burst with excitement, she exploded! Greg, from DWB, honoured her with this fabulous award.

The first ever!

Thank you Everyone.
Sophie and her dutiful photographer are flattered and honoured.

And with that, I will go sweep up the bits of the beast.
Sophie Demon Dog

Sophie appears to be snarling at her little friend Maxoo, but really, it's just an unfortunate moment when her lip was caught in her teeth. But you can see how quickly the puparazzi could spin this. The next thing you know, Sophie will be in rehab.

Speaking of which, doesn't anyone go to Betty Ford anymore?

My team won!

The Saskatchewan Roughriders won their first Grey Cup (named after Lord Grey or Earl Grey or someone or other) since 1989.

Thanks Wally!
We couldn't have done it without you.

The Saskatchewan Rough Riders are in the Grey Cup.

Why do I care? Because I am from Saskatchewan originally, and because it means a big party to watch the game, which will then be followed by a viewing of the new episode of Dexter. A double-whammy, exciting TV Sunday.

More importantly, why does Sophie care?

Sophie cares because her friend Wally is vying for the role of mascot, which is currently occupied by a gopher.

And because it gives me the opportunity to show you this lame video.

Why show you this lame video?
So I can show you wallymelon heads, of course!

Viewing Guide:
Wallymelon heads at 0:53 and 1:51
Doggie at 1:23

DISCLAIMER: When loaded into this blog posting, the timer on this video counts down instead of up, forcing you, the viewer, to do the math to find the above mentioned shots. Get out your pencils and start figuring ... or just watch the whole damn video. It's only about 2 minutes long.

Bored?

Some recent visitors to Sophie's world have suggested that she always looks bored. But this simply isn't true. Sophie is a complex and emotion laden beast, with far more moods than bored. For example:

worried,

pissed off,

happy,

impatient,

more happy,

and possessed.

We like to keep that last one under wraps whenever possible.

Stanley Coren is at it again.
This time, he's got an article in Modern Dog called, "Do you look like your dog?"

I wish I looked like my dog.
She's far better looking than me.

A better article might be, "Does Stanley Coren look like a chubbier Dr. Phil, and which one's the dog?"

SNOW!

Nothing makes a tennis ball taste better.

This is called a Ziggy.

also known as an Old English Sheepdog

also known as a Bobtail.

Can't say why, since his name is Ziggy, not Bob.

*

Ziggy and Cha Cha came over for a play date.

*

These dogs could never model.
This was the only decent group shot.

It all fell apart after that.

It's amazing how quickly that happens when you run out of cookies.
Blasted beasts!

Upstaged
by a giant ball of fluff

Sure, he's cute. But life is too short for cute.

Did you hear?
Nominations are out for Photo of the Month.

Hey!
Stopping looking at the fluff ball.

Where is LOLDOGS?

Come on guys!
We're falling behind again.

Snow Report

It didn't happen, but Sophie did meet this little black and white dog, so that was almost as good.

This just in......

snow tonight!

Sophie is beside herself excited.

But first, breakfast.

*

Note: We do not have this much (or any) snow yet. So far, only rain. This photo was taken last winter. Tomorrow, Sophie will hopefully report on the successful dropping of white stuff. She's hoping it doesn't melt as soon as it hits the ground.

The perfect slumber,

the crossed paws,

the elegant pose ...

Given her extreme grace,
it may come as some surprise that
Sophie's new nickname is Tooter.

I'm Maxoo

I like Sophie,

tennis balls,

and Bruce Lee.

And I did NOT pee on my mom's bed.
Regardless of what you may have heard.

R.I.P.
Barney the Bassett

Three year old Barney was Sophie's favourite uncle Ted's little brother.
Yesterday, he succumbed to liver disease.
We are sad.

I had a dream

In this dream, I adopted a puppy that looked very much like a puli. She was teeny tiny and her fur was white with strings of milk chocolate brown mixed in. She was super cute and I called her Elsa. I considered, in my dream, that Sophie might not be thrilled with a puppy, but I didn't actually get around to asking her before waking up.
Dog Washing Machine

Someone (my apologies for not remembering who) posted a photo of a dog washing machine, which sounds like the most ridiculous invention ever, not to mention just a little cruel. This morning, I came across this AP video on the Globe and Mail website.

Maybe if we could toss in the dinner plates and a few pairs of jeans as well ........

Guess who came to visit?

Cha Cha!

Remember Cha Cha?

Also known as Cha Choo-etta.

Also known as Sophie's best friend.

Her BFF.

Sophie was so happy to see her.

Can you tell?

Notice Sophie, post play and pooped.
