It's raining presents.
Hallelooola

Stanley and Stella from Gooberstan sent Sophie the most amazing giant envelope full of stuff that made Sophie's eye's pop out of her head.

They rolled around a bit on the floor, but we found them and popped them back in.

This pig snout, for example.

Some squeaky tennis balls and a giant bully stick (yummers),

A really cool tomato worm and the aforementioned, totally rockin'
Sock Monkey Collar!

Thanks Stanley & Stella!
That was over-the-top, unbelievably nice of you guys.

For those of you not familiar with this duo, that is NOT Stella pictured to the left, although she possibly does aspire to having those lips. (No collagen injections Stella!)

Stay tuned for our next installment of
Presents for Sophie
when
Sophie opens mystery box from #1 Joe Stains.

Is that Sophie?
Is that a sock monkey collar?
Is it from the land of Gooberstan?

The answer to these and other compelling questions, such as who got a 7" bully stick in the mail, to be answered after her walk.

As you may have suspected,
Elvis is selling used appliances in Montreal

But he is not alone. It appears he has a "mini-me" Elvis emerging from his crotch.

And Sophie drops by to say hello once in a while,

although she finds him altogether too needy.
OOPS!

Here's a good example of look before you leap .... or lunge.
I posted a kind of nasty "get off my blog" comment to Wuff Stuff, thinking they were some opportunist marketing venture trying to make a few $$$ off us dog lovers.
In reality, they appear to be just a bunch of dog lovers and quite possibly don't even have any $$$.

I feel like quite sheepish about this one, being such a grumpy grump about them posting in my comments. Can I blame it on my dysplasia? No. I was just being a bitch. Now some would say it is only natural for a diva dog like me, but I sure hope the Wuff Stuffer folks won't hold it against all us Canadian dogs ... or chessie/lab crosses ... or divas.

With Apologies,
SB

Saint Jean Baptiste Day

An annual holiday in Quebec celebrating the patron saint of French Canadians

means that Sophie,

who has been very busy breaking in the new dining room carpet,

will be called upon to celebrate.

Chien Interrupted.

___

and speaking of being interrupted....

Here's a special note for Wuff Stuff: I appreciate that you are trying to recruit members, but stop posting marketing material in my blog comments. It is making me really not want to join and it is making me twitter things about how much you are annoying me. Don't do it anymore, okay? Asking nicely.

HEY!

So, Sophie may have given you the impression that her park is nothing but water from one end to the other. This simply is not the case.

Sure there's lots of water. You can see it there, through those trees.

But there is lots of green too.

And loads of space for Sophie to practice her yodeling on weekend mornings.

Meet & Greet
a few of my new neighbours

Mika
He's a wacky, young, silvery Doberman

Yuki,
She's young too, but quite mellow and a sweetie pie and holy cute!

Coquette
She lives right across the street and is a pretty chill, happy girl.

There are loads more. Loads! These are only the ones we have pictures of.
Just three doors down there is a lab, a beagle, and a poodle, and across the street, an Old English and ..... wait for it .....a Bernese Mountain Dog!

Mom says I can't kill him. But you know me and those BMDs. I just don't like 'em.

Sophie on the Rocks

Okay, it's just one rock, but for a martini swilling beast like Sophie, you have to admit that was pretty funny.

MORNING IN THE PARK

Strolling through her new old park, Sophie meets a lot of dogs.

There are dogs all over Parc LaFontaine and provided she doesn't want to kill them, she gets to say hello.

Check out the fat pug dude.

Check out the fat pug dude swimming.

I can't remember his name, so we like to think of him as Carl.

Go Carl Go

This is Bob Barker

This is Sophie.

This is Sophie and a couple of apes trying to convince Bob Barker to get his feet wet.

This is Bob Barker thinking they are all insane.

This is Bob Barker's Pa Ape ratcheting up his persuasive techniques.

This is Bob Barker realizing that the Pa Ape is never to be trusted.

This is Bob Barker mad as hell.

He did some yelling at the Pa Ape, told him to choose one of three dog bakeries and asked him to guess the price of the special cookie he would buy him. Bob Barker never loses the magic.

See Sophie?

This morning ... a stupidly hot one ... Sophie romped in the lake in her new park, Parc La Fontaine. It's actually her old park, because it is near her very first house in Montreal. She is thrilled to be living near Parc La Fontaine again, because she can go swimming .... sort of .... if the cops aren't around.

Side note: The cops in Montreal suck, for a lot of reasons, but mostly because they give massive tickets to dogs who swim and play. But that's another story for another time.

Sophie met up with these two new pals, Charlie and Shelby. Mere split seconds after this photo was taken, Shelby tried to mount Sophie and Sophie got mad. But it was a short lived spat and let's just say, Shelby won't be trying that again.

More pictures of Sophie's Sunday morning park adventure to come during the week. She met a lot of new dogs today. Her favourite? Bob Barker, a chubby dachsund with no use for the water.

Sophie with one of her birthday presents.

She would like you to know that despite the slightly glazed look in her eyes, she is stone cold sober, and despite the messy floor beside her, she did not spill her last martini.

Finally!

and without further ado

*** A WORLD PREMIERE VIDEO ***

of Ms. Sophina la Brador

Sophie at the Old House on her Birthday from Sophie Brador on Vimeo.

Since moving out of the loft, Sophie has been using it as a dog park.

Our loft neighbour, who is also Sophie's dog walker, popped over with her dogs Tricky and Charlot. Sophie, Tricky and Charlot all have four legs. The dog walker is the one with only two.

This video is in black & white, so as to be suitably artistic for Ms. Beast.
