Is there anything cuter than a happy Sophie?

A happy Pablo comes close.

And these two dogs were born to be buddies.

Nothing makes Sophie happier these days than Pablo stopping by for a play.

And she's always sad when she has to say goodbye.

Another leg update: Still holding strong. Paws crossed that this is a trend.

Ça suffit!

Over the last 2 1/2 years, I've noticed a fairly alarming trend on this blog.

It is Sophie, Sophie, Sophie, all the time.

Well, I've had enough. It's time to switch the focus to me and I've got a major dilemma.

I have to fly to an Eastern seaboard-ish city one weekend in November and can't decide where to go. I have a flight credit for a Montreal-New York flight that I cancelled last year (because of Sophie!) and I am now in a use it or lose it position. I can fly to any city I want ... New York, Boston, Washington, Philly ... even Pittsburgh! As long as it's about the same number of flight credits as MTL-NYC.
But where to go? Which one? I simply can't decide.

Sophie has to stay home. I've taught her how to feed herself and she's mastered the stove quite well. She has some issues with the dishwasher, as she doesn't quite get that licking the plates is not the proper way to use the machine. Taking herself for walks is a bit more of a problem, since she goes straight to the neighbour's yard to pick up the cat, but I'm hopeful that by the time I leave, she will either have gotten picking up the cat out of the way or dispensed with the idea altogether.

Whose head is in Sophie's mouth this time?

Meet Pablo

Not the most likely of pals for Sophie,

since she'd never really cottoned to the Schnauzer variety.

But when he started tagging along with King Kong on Sophie's regular walks,

she was forced to befriend the little fluff.

***

Of course she did try to murder him the first time they met,

But after some discussion, she grew to appreciate his puppy ways.

Feeling like his position as Sophie's best bud had been usurped,

the wee King Kong got his nose a little out of joint.

He attempted to shoot fire from his eyes,

but let's face it. He's just a wee chihuahua.

Christine finally managed to get all three beasts down the stairs and out for a walk.
Just another day at Chez Sophie

Update on Sophie's leg: so far so good.

The Leg of the Beast
An Update

Sophie is, at this very moment, lounging on her balcony, waiting for her dog walker to come. Sounds decadent, I know, since I am at home. But I'm sick and can't think of a better time to take advantage of a dog walker.

Anyway, the leg, the leg, the leg.

Sophie saw Dr. Seto last night and the results of the examination were inconclusive. She is walking on her leg again, but he could not determine if it was a partial tear to her ACL or a muscular thing.  So ......

Sophie is under watch and a reduced activity load, which does not sit well with her.  If she shows lameness in that back leg again in the next week or two, she will go in to be put under for a full examination.  Awake, she is too protective of the area to allow for such a thing.  She isn't trying to bite the doc ... she is just tensing too much to allow him to properly feel about.

If it was a partial tear, there will inevitably be another, and another, until the whole damn thing goes.  Then we will be in surgery mode.  If it wasn't, then it wasn't.  So basically, we know nothing.

But, you did get some bootie shots in these pics, so that's something, right?

We interrupt this irregularly scheduled blog to announce that Sophie may have torn her cruciate ligament.

The other one.
More news tomorrow, after visiting the vet.
She can't put any weight on her back leg, but keeping all fingers and paws crossed that it's just a strain.

Sneak Peak
of Sophie's Saturday morning in the park.

Dogs were met and cuzzes were caught.
Sophie is a happy girl.

Stayed tuned. More to come....

Sophie is Disgusted.

Since I started teaching full-time at the college, Sophie has been spending a lot of time doing nothing. She is not impressed. Her fans are not impressed either. They drop by to see her and find nothing new and so slowly have begun to abandon her. Poor Sophie.

On the other hand, she is back to getting daily walks with an array of dogs, including the wee King Kong, and even goes to the country once a week for a sleep over with Charlot and Tricky, her former neighbours. Despite the fact that I am not working at home as much, Sophie is pretty damn happy.

She's just sad that I've dropped the ball on her blog .... and on sending out all those packages I promised to send. Maybe I'll pack them up this weekend.

I hope you bear with us. Christmas break is coming soon and I get a full month off, at which point, we should be back to our regularly scheduled blogging. For now, I will definitely try to update at least once a week.

Oh .... and is that not the cutest tooth you've ever seen?

Okay, so here's the thing.
I got this pink flamingo-esque toy for our friend Stanley,
who totally loves pink flamingos.

Unfortunately Stanley's pink flamingo kind of lost its head.

As luck would have it, seems Sophie likes pink flamingos too.

In fact, seems she really likes pink flamingos.

Even Maxoo likes pink flamingos.

Sorry Stan.
We'll try again.

So I got this email from a friend of a friend, who said her friend was making these collars.

This is kind of more Wally's turf, and not exactly Canadian turf, but I just had to share. Besides, we gearing up for our very own election here, although it will start and finish long before Oba .... I mean the new US president ..... is elected. http://www.muzzle-tov.com/

Up here, I guess we just kind of like to get on with things. Leaves more time for the building of igloos, drinking of beer and frying of bacon and such ... eh?

On a side note, all recent mysteries, including that strange purple nose that might have Stanley's name attached to it somewhere, will be explained ... soon. At least before the US election.
