Bruce
the dog formerly known as Zeus

Of course his name is Zeus. What else?

Frankly, Zeus seems like a lot of name for this guy to live up to.
We prefer to think of him as Bruce.

Bruce still has his boy bits.

Which may explain this.

He was definitely disappointed when his owner said, "Zeus, aller."
Probably because he prefers Bruce.

Bye Bruce! Nice meeting you.

Sock Monkey Pillow

Sophie has been super cute lately. Way cuter than normal. Lately, she has taken to plunking herself done for a snooze with her favourite stuffies. I swear, this photo was not posed! The very next day, she plunked down with blue dog, but the camera was no where to be found.

Sophie Brador
Over Exposed

Truth be told, I've been so busy lately, that the beast has been a little under-exposed. Yesterday, I tried to make it up to her with a walk in the sunshine and I brought the camera to capture some of her post-furminator sleekness.

It's the photos that are over-exposed, but Sophie's loveliness is still apparent. I can hardly believe she's gained seven pounds since Christmas.

She looks great, but this bootie-shot gives you a little glimpse of her pudgy tummy. It almost looks like she's got a tennis ball lodged in the side of her belly, but rest assured, it is nothing more than labrachunk.

She was just in for a full check up at the vet and everything is as it should be. But seven pounds is a lot of weight for a dog to gain, so she's been put on a strict diet. She is only allowed to eat whatever she can scrounge on walks.

Marc-Andre Laporte
of the Blaineville Wire Fox Terrier
cruelty to animals case has been sentenced.

Just heard it on the radio. Waiting for the details to pop up online. I can tell you that he got himself some probation and a bit of community service work. Oooooooooh. Wouldn't want to be too hard on him. He's also been forbidden to own a dog for two years.

Two years.
How about forever?

THE DETAILS

Okay, so here's what he got:

1. Three year probation
2. 200 hours of community service
3. $2000 fine
4. No dogs for two years

The article refers to this as a stiff sentence. Come again? STIFF? Sounds like a wrist slapping to me.

PROBLEM SOLVING
with Sophie & Maxoo
(you may wish to take notes)

It may look as if Sophie is curled up having a nap,

and it may look as if Maxoo is just hanging out being a dude,

But some of you might be WRONG!

There is some major Maxoo problem-solving-in-action going on here.

The problem:
How to get the eight ball, which is currently being held hostage under Sophie's beautiful schnozzer.

Sniffing about the beast has proved futile for the Maxoo and his frustration mounts.

Hang in there Maxoo.
Hang in there.

Max decides to take a page from Sock Monkey's book and patiently wait for the right opportunity.

At last! Max successfully retrieved the eight ball and launched into his de-stuffing campaign; however, as a case study, we can see where some of Max's fatal errors lie. All along, he was operating under the assumption that Sophie cared about the eight ball, but that assumption was false! It just happened to be there when she plunked herself down for her snooze. What looked as if Sophie was curled up for a nap was in fact, Sophie curled up for a nap. Some times, things really are as they seem.

Maxoo is a very smart little dude, but sheer brilliance continues to elude him.

Update: The baby monkey is back! Her brother was freaking out, but they have been reunited. Whether you like zoos or not, it would have been horrible if this poor little creature had died, because some moron thought it would be cool to take her. I don't think they caught the moron. Note: Sock monkey was safe throughout this crisis.

KEEPING AN EYE ON THE APES

This super cute baby callimico monkey was stolen from the Cherry Brook Zoo in Saint John, N.B.

Would the moron who took her, please bring her back.
The zoo won't even press charges,
even though they should take you out back and !@#$%^&*
or maybe feed you to the lions, so those guys are probably pretty bored anyway.

JUST BRING BACK THE MONKEY!
This is the kitchen in the loft.

This is the dog in the loft.

This is the dog's best friend,
in the loft.

I am giving all this up for walls.

? !

Just kidding. I am not giving up the dog.

And she's not giving up her best friend.
But we are moving soon to a place with actual rooms instead of one big open space. The kitchen is not as big and the dinner parties may not be as fabulous, but hey, that's what caterers are for right?

Did I have you worried that I was getting rid of Sophie?

This has been a belated April Fools post.
The author would like to thank you for you patience during this busy time, and would also like to assure her regular readers that she will, one day, return to regular blogging activities. If you are not a regular reader, please return to your regularly scheduled activities.

SOCK MONKEY BLUES

From time to time, Sophie likes to take sock monkey for a walk, but she has a bad habit of ditching him part way along.

This usual means I have to carry the squeaky little guy the rest of the way.

Not any more!

It's time Sophie take responsibility for her actions,
and her pets.

If she wants to bring sock monkey,
she has to carry sock monkey.

Hang on monkey!

Hang on.

Unfortunately, sock monkey is not very good at hanging on.

In fact, he's downright pitiful.
But don't worry.
Sock monkey made it home in one piece,

although he did need a bath.

It may have escaped your memory

that Sophie was once the principal ballerina in the Imperial Russian Ballet.

Her most recent work can be seen here.
Thank you Joe Stains, for your hard work and dedication.

Remember Cha Cha?

Sophie's BFF?

When Sophie doesn't have the opportunity to chew on Cha Cha,

She opts for her sock monkey.

Sock Monkey, oh yeah.

Note: Reference to Mango is intentional.

THE INDUBITABLE SOPHIE BRADOR

Sophie is getting older and it is starting to show in her face fur a bit. But really, she is still too cute for words.

STOP!

Before any of you fine people call up Animal Control to report Sophie as an aggressive dog, let me assure you, she was only playing in that last photo. It was but a wee trick of the hand to make it look as though she was in full attack mode.

Don't believe me?

Here she is again, with the owner of that very hand, sucking face.

As you may well know, Sophie doesn't give out kisses easily.
This was proceeded by intense contemplation with Maxoo and his person before consenting to such a blatant display of affection.

Sophie believes it is always best to weigh the pros and cons carefully before taking action.

Sometimes, it is necessary for Sophie to defend herself against vicious attacks. Life in the lap of luxury is a dangerous thing.
